SIEMENS is a global powerhouse in electric and electronic industry, a world leader in complex infrastructures solutions and an active provider of sustainable manufacturing technologies. Siemens Technology (T) research & develops hardware and software systems and solutions acting as main driver of innovation inside Siemens. SIEMENS T Romania is a Romanian branch of these activities. T has an extensive expertise and experience in all areas of software development, working for a large variety of sectors like industrial manufacturing, energy, mobility or services, to mention but a few.
Current research capacity and expertise of the department encompasses fields like Data Analytics and Monitoring, Industry grade DevOps, Analytics driven Security, Remote Diagnostics Systems, Data Management Architectures. The department acts at the global scale in Siemens Technology division, the core technological house of the corporation. From the local group perspective, the expertise offered is centred around some main research cores: Knowledge based systems, Event Driven Architectures, Internet of Things in complete stack from device enablement and security, middleware up to predictive analytics, Big Data analytics, Cloud Computing and Networking technologies, edge systems.

Role in the project
Siemens is deeply committed to digitizing the industry, by means of the so-called Industry 4.0 initiative. The technological focus is on advancing monitoring and learning of threats and security patterns via data analytics techniques by using machine learning and artificial intelligence in order to build up solid engineering support for shop-floor deployment (mitigation strategies, contextual adaptation based on transferable knowledge). With its research initiatives, Siemens is trying to develop scalable and interoperable solutions by leveraging its core technologies and modern, open standards. Within the project Siemens will bridge the research and the industrial/business views of security (functional and information), privacy, reliability and interoperability by providing inputs to the technical work-packages and use-cases.

In STAR Siemens team got some key focus points: drive innovation management, support the structuring of standardisation contributions and contribute to market ready enablement of safe, trusted and secure AI, including training material.
